Street Scene 2005
Friday: Hard-fi and Hot Hot Heat were pretty good. Hot Hot Heat singer has a weird voice and his movements remind me of Devo and Brandon Flowers (the keyboard mostly). Rise Against was pretty good and Louis XIV was really good live. I missed Kasabian. I saw part of Flogging Molly, Black Eyed Peas, and Social Distortion en passant. I saw the beginning of the Whites Stripes. They started with Dead Leaves on the Dirty Ground, I Think I Smell a Rat, and Jolene. I saw most of the Killers but I missed Under the Gun. The Killers concert was amazing of course. While I was leaving I saw the Stripes perform the end of Seven Nation army.
Saturday: Spoon was awesome. I heard Death Cab For Cutie but I didn't see them. They sound good. Unwritten Law was really good. I missed The Used to see The Flaming Lips. The Flaming Lips were incredible. I wish I had seen The Used because I heard they were amazing live. I saw the beginning and end of the Pixies and most of 311. They were both decent.
Rambling about the Lips: The Flaming Lips started out with Wayne Coyne (lead singer) rolling around on top of the crowd in a giant inflatable hampster ball. One of the first songs they played was Bohemian Rhapsody. It was the best cover I've heard so far on Bohemian Rhapsody. The audience was crazy. During Do You Realize, Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robot, and She Don't Use Jelly the audience was really hyped up. They ended with the song War Pigs. I can't believe they pulled off such good covers on both War Pigs and Bohemian Rhapsody in the same night.
