I saw The Ring Two without seeing The Ring first. After that I met Brian and Michael on top of a hill near the 56. It's in between Carmel Creek and Carmel Country. The top has a big open area with the remains of burnt trees everywhere. You could pull any of the trees out of the ground easily because there weren't any living roots holding them in, just big chunks of dirt on the bottoms.
