Wish I Was a Brit
Many things can only be done in Britain. Microsoft is adding to the list of strange British activities by allowing owners of pirated copies of Windows XP to trade in their copies for legal versions. Before all you Brits start downloading your own pirated version of Windows XP, realize that this only applies if you can show a receipt of your purchase. This means that if you are a British resident, you have legally purchased a pirated versions of Windows XP (or a pre-installed version), and you don't submit more than five pirated versions then you can get your own real legal version of Windows XP in a shiny new package with a shiny new legal serial number.... or you could just switch to Linux

Of course, switching to Linux is, by far, the smartest option.
I view the decision not to do this in the United States with joy; I think that it means that Microsoft is paying less attention to their U.S.-based business, which will allow Linux to grow some.

I agree Will. In fact I don't think the fact that they are doing it in Britain will increase MS sales in Britain but instead will help MS to pinpoint where the pirated software is coming from so they can find out who to sue.

Hmmm...and if MS starts pursuing litigation, then they'll gain the rep of SCO! This is exciting!

Just goes to show, MS would rather you use their product and not pay for it then use one of those other operating systems..

On other news in Russia they are selling copies of the Russian IRS database wich includes all the personal information: passport numbers, address, name, income, job location, family, etc... for all of Moscow. You can get it now for the low price of $2 American Dollars at any of the conviniently placed software piriting stands available throughout Moscow and other major cities.
