I didn't break the internet
Google was down today for about ten minutes. During this time I restarted my modem once and my router twice because I thought my router had crashed and I couldn't access the internet. The way I usually check if "my internet" is broken is pinging google. After I found out only Google was down I thought maybe an apocalypse had started and the whole internet would slowly start to crumble like dominoes. The good news: I didn't break the internet. I did notice during the down-time that Blogger was also down. Blogger is out of Google's standard 216.239.37.* ip range but its DNS settings still point to NS1.GOOGLE.COM through NS4.GOOGLE.COM.
On a Google-related note, I discovered Froogle wish lists today. I found this on the Google Blog. My Froogle wish list will supersede my ThinkGeek and other wishlists soon.

Hmmm...Google's just been slower than usual for me today, but it was never down. I don't know why this was.
However, in addition to Blogger's use of Google's nameservers, this entry on Blogger Status should explain a lot: http://status.blogger.com/status.blogger/2004/11/weve-had-to-restart-databases-multiple.asp

Oh, and by the way, if the Blogger slowdown affected you
(because you use Blogger to manage chmod 311), you might want to
consider switching to software that you host like Movable Type or
WordPress. It was after a series of frustrating outages with Blogger
and an interface that was fine at first but began to restrain me later
on with its limited options that I switched to Movable Type.
I also switched then from Movable Type to WordPress for several reasons that I explain on my blog; so if you do decide to begin hosting your blog software, I would recommend WP over MT.
(Reason for edit: linked incorrectly in original; sorry that I've made so many comments)
